Got a call from 888-927-0925 trying to find out who this is they aske for money. Are they scammers

Said my computer was hacked give them 400 dollars or they will report me to the local sheriff office. Didn’t give them money or information. Tried to go back and look up number no information on it.

Sent me alarms on computer I was hacked and call immediately. Wanted $400 or $600 for best service to clean up my computer. HP won’t charge you over the phone. Gut feeling, I disconnected computer, they called back furious with what I did. Beware guys, they are still out there
