Someone called me saying they are Social Security agent. They pursuing me for legal action. He gave me some name and federal badge number. They gave me my address. I thought at first, this might be for real... They said they are charging me with money laundering. They are freezing my accounts... they mentioned bank names. I laughing because it did not match anything of such. Then, they switched gears. They asked me if I was willing to cooperate with them. They said they will send out new social security number while they investigate mine. They said it will take years. Then they asked for my bank account information. At first, i gave out my general information like checking account and where I bank, how much I have in the accounts. (come to think of it, I gave out my last 4 digit of my social, DOB and name for verification.) But I mentioned I don't have money in the accounts, then they asked if I have credit card. They asked me to put up some money. I will get it back within 7 days. Red light went up, (finally!!). I asked them, "I need to verify if you are for real. Could you provide me with my social? I have not told you my full number." They said sure... and they only provided what I gave them at the beginning of the conversation. I told them, I don't think this is for real. You could not supply me with my full number. (They said they are the social security.) I gave them too much information!!! Thinking they are for real...
